Froide already stated most of what I was going to say, but to answer your question, if you can't hang on to that email address then yes, you'll need to re-download any DRM'd ebooks you have in order to use them with the updated ID.
Once you change your ID email, ADE desktop will likely throw an invalid authorization error the next time you try to download a book if you don't update the account info in the program.
