John, I agree with
CWatkinsNash. However, before changing anything, I suggest you do two (maybe three) things:
(1) Pose your questions to a tech-savvy librarian at your local public or university library. The awesome librarians at the libraries I frequent seem to know ADE (and other software critical to ereading, such as OverDrive) inside and out. If their help proves sufficient and satisfactory, then maybe you can then skip suggestion (2).
(2) If you're switching email addresses because you're leaving a school or company that currently hosts your email account, and not because your email account was hacked, then ask the establishment if they can forward emails from your old email address to your new one. A school will likely grant your request; I'm not so sure about a former employer. Nonetheless, it doesn't hurt to ask.
(3, a corollary to 2) If you're switching email addresses merely because the previous one was hacked, then I suggest you work with the hosting service to wrest back control of it and implement
multi-factor authentication. Then, even though you've adopted a new email address, maintain ownership of the previous (hacked) one as well.
