Ooh, something finally changed! While my order page still says "Pre-ordered" rather than "Preparing for shipment," things are different when I press "Track Package." It used to (since I ordered it a month ago) say something like "We have recieved your order but have not yet begun preparing it for shipment." Now it says "We are processing your shipment now. We'll send you an e-mail when it has shipped."
