Well after a bit of experimenting, these are apparently compatibly only with the Nook for Kids app on the iPad. And that app has not been updated since 2011, and has lots of reviews saying it no longer works (it's got a 2.5 average rating nowadays). So even if you do have an iPad, you still may not be able to read these.

Brilliant execution there B&N.
