One rather odd item to try is to install the USB drivers in the Kobo Desktop applications folder under Program Files (or Program Files (x86) for those using a Windows x64 plaform). Look in the drivers folder and run the dpinst32 for x86 or dpinstx64 for x64 executable. This helped one co-worker who ran into the same issue with their Touch N905C not being recognized after a firmware update.
