I have also been cleaning out shelf space. My wife and I just filled several large bags (~1.7 cubic feet each) of books to take to Walter Reed Hospital for returning veterans. This is our new place to donate books. All my local library does with them is put them in a "free" pile for the paperbound or in a book sale for the hardbound. The senior center here will only take books in large print and they only want current best sellers.

The people at Walter Reed said that if it was of interest to us to acquire the book, then there is someone there that will also be interested in the book. Their view is so refreshing. They also allow the returning veterans to take the book with them if they want or if they are transferred/discharged before they finish it. I like these people.

In other areas, I have more Jack London to post and I am working on a copy of Practical Journalism by Edwin L. Shuman from 1903. I read it many years ago and it is a good solid book. The scan I have of the book is in poor shape and I am correcting the OCR at the moment. Some passages have had to be typed from the text as this was easier than correction.
