I consider a cover to be like insurance - you hope you never NEED it, but when you do it's there to save you huge costs.

Accidents happen - just one jostled arm or someone dropping something heavy and pointy on the screen may be ask it'll take to wreck it. If I just spent $220/$270 on a Voyage, I wouldn't want to explain to Amazon why I need an exchange because 'it broke'.

It usually can't hurt to have one on, unless it's very poorly designed. I'd always recommended some sort of case or cover be used with an ereader, at least until they make one that's actually indestructible - something that I have yet to see happen with complex electronics containing lithium batteries and glass-substrate screens.
