For some reason the line
"show_splash_screen": true,
wasn't present.
So I added
"show_splash_screen": false,
This made a subtle difference in that the only errors now are
libpng warning: iCCP: Not recognizing known sRGB profile that has been edited
Segmentation fault
Still refusing to run
