I mostly use the Kindle, but I don't keep more than 1 of these (when I buy a new one, the old one gets sold). The Sony 650 was a present (I had a K3 at the time) and doesn't get used much these days.
I'm not bothered about not having a back-up Kindle - if mine dies, I'll just buy a new one - have plenty of pbooks still and anyway I'd only be without for a few days (or I could go for next day delivery).
