That is because the video is not a hands-on review, but appears to be a display / sales / demonstration stand. While you personally may not read with max brightness it still shows how much brighter the Voyage CAN go compared to the Tolino. Nobody doubts that at very low settings suitable for reading in very dim light there is overlap between both models. In the dark the light is simply to be able to read without extra lighting, in very bright including outdoors it is to make the background appear closer to white instead of grey. Again that is preference - you may want to turn the light off or down as low as possible in bright daylight, and somebody else thinks it looks better with the light.
