It seems to me like digital pricing is more about not cannibalizing sales of print editions and sustaining a legacy organization, than a sustainable platform for growth.
The number of journalists has mushroomed during the last three decades, with people working for the web and added overhead wich follows., decreasing newspapers operational efficiency despite having a potentially more efficient method of distribution.
I think scaling back to operational sanity is the biggest challenge the newspaper industry faces today
