Rabbi Gabrielle's Defiance by Roger Herst, himself an actual rabbi, is 3rd in Washington, D.C.-set Jewish investigative mysteries starring the eponymous female rabbi trying to navigate a male-dominated profession as well as the occasionally conflicting secular and spiritual portions of her world while also solving crime, free courtesy of publisher Diversion Books.

We've previously received the first two novels as freebies in previous months, and as I mentioned last time, it's possible that these are on the "inspirational" side, as the 1st one was originally printed by a dedicated Jewish specialty publisher. On the other hand, they may just be fairly standard mainstream investigative mysteries which happen to written by and star a rabbi. YMMV.

Also, there are several apparently non-murder mystery installments in the series, and this appears to be one of them, if you happen to be in the mood for some less deadly sleuthing for a change of pace.

Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK) & iTunes (available to Canadians). May possibly show up in the other stores later, but Diversion (who are couponable at Kobo, by the way) seems to be varying which ones get their books each time.

And this has been the selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.

Because it's nice to have some variety in the kinds of faith-based books we get offered as freebies, and also nice to get some variety in the kinds of mysteries as well.

Description
Rabbi Gabrielle continues her personal and professional odyssey, this time toying with running for a seat in Congress. In the process she becomes entangled with a Korean computer geek who operates a successful online political campaign website for underfunded, unknown candidates. At the same time her congregation has lost a child burned to death in an accident lighting Hanukkah candles.

Gabrielle must grapple with accusations against her talented but sensitive associate rabbi for unprofessional incompetence and a nasty law-suit leveled against Ohav Shalom. Arson is the subject and Rabbi Gabrielle becomes a hound dog on scent, all the while wrestling with a new romance in her life.
