Good luck Josieb1 if you do decide to give the Aura H2O a try, but what you've posted as your experience from Argos is pretty much exactly my experience when considering the Aura from WH Smith (including it being down to the individual stores discretion). I was told that the reason for this was that once opened, they could no longer sell it and and would have to return it to Kobo, and they in turn would only accept returns from WH Smith with obvious faults.

With the Aura I was more concerned about the reported scratches along the top of the screen, and how good the quality of the light was, both seemingly inherent in the design of the Aura to widely varying extents, so therefore not something that would be obviously considered a fault. I really fancied trying the Aura, but took the safe option of the PW2 instead.

At least with the H20 there shouldn't be any reason for you not liking it... but when you are spending £140 it's hardly unreasonable to expect that it meets your expectations, and if not, you can get a refund.
