Yes it's the inconsistency that is the worst. I bought my H2O feeling fairly safe as I had a chat transcript confirming the eligibility of the H2O as well as a screen shot of their website without the exclusion symbol. As it happened, my screen is perfect, as far as I can see anyway, and I am very happy with it.

A possibility may be to go into Argos and ask to see the H2O. I have done this with other items in the past and they get the item out and open it for you to handle before purchasing. Although you wouldn't be able to register the device, you should be able to check the screen for pinholes at least, and with no obligation to purchase.
