If you download with a browser DO NOT expect the ebook file to automagically go to your My Kindle Content folder. It will go wherever your browser wants to put it. By default that will be your Downloads folder, but that can easily be changed.

Launch Firefox and access its download manager and see where Firefox chose to put the ebook.
