It's certainly more expensive than other currently available ereaders, but given the use I am going to get out of it, I consider it dirt cheap based on the pleasure it is going to give me. Or the additional pleasure I expect to get over the cheaper models.

If you're on this board, you're also pretty likely to already have one or more ereading technologies at your disposal. It isn't simply will you get a voyage or will you get a crappy basic, but is it worth $200 to upgrade from something that may well make you quite happy already? Not everyone who might have upgraded if the device had been a better fit for them is in a place where they need to upgrade now. Some of us were just hoping we'd be a little more tempted to.
To answer your first question, relating to what value I see in the Voyage, I might actually think it was a decent value for me now if it came with 1) more storage sufficient to hold a modest music/audiobook/podcast selection or an sd slot and 2) a speaker. I very, very much enjoy listening to music while I read. The convenience of having that all on one device would be a bit of a tipping point for me. As is, there's room in the price for Amazon to discount, and because there are apparently plenty of folks willing to pay full price (the early adopter's fee), Amazon is going to have a very easy time discounting for the rest of us not too far down the road.
