I am also having similar problem running under iOS8.0.2. Tried most things suggested but
still not able to connect iPad to calibre. Tried just deleting reader application resources folder and then reinstall plugin and now get error 'unable to reach the plugin index page'.

Seem to be just digging a deeper hole.
