Thomas Piketty's Capital in the 21st Century is a big fat non-fiction book that is selling pretty well these days. Piketty clearly had Marx's Das Kapital in mind when he was writing, and that is another big fat book. Piketty is a good writer and makes a lot of literary references, especially to 19th c. novels. However, he doesn't mention William Gaddis' JR, which is a big fat satire of the money-making mindset.
