There is only one slight problem with comparing fonts from one device to the next. And that is the assumption that both devices use the same version Helvetica, and if they do that both devices render the same font the same.
For example my Kindle Touch compared to my PW1 - fonts look a bit darker on the PW, but they are also not looking the same. On the PW each font is rendered thicker and it is stretched out a little bit longer horizontally compared the the KT. It is hard to say which one is inherently better than the other - darker looking fonts are not always the best option. The rendering on the KT is closer to how a pbook looks like, while the PW looks more like a some computer screen. If it wasn't for the lacking light and heavier wieght, I'd rather use the KT for how the pages look like.
From just the pictures on Amazon it looks like that the new Kindle Touch uses the same stretched out fonts as in the PW compared to the old Kindle Touch.
