I don't think robertpolson was talking about touch responsiveness in general, but rather about text selection. I do some highlighting and annotations myself, and much as I love my Aura HD I must admit that text selection on Kobo can be pretty glitchy and extremely slow.
Two notes though: I'm still on 3.3.1, because I've heard that 3.8.0 can be even slower (mostly with the DB, but still). And most of the books I highlight and annotate are in Russian, so the firmware might have extra difficulty with non-Latin characters.
