Device: Sony PRS 505
Cybook or Sony (UK customer)

I'm sorry to create a thread that must of been done to death, and which will probably be filled with very basic questions. But I can assure you that I have tried my best to search around on this forum (which is fantastic, I mean how awesome are e-book readers?) and other sites for information.

I live in the UK and have been considering whether to buy the Cybook Gen3 or the Sony PRS-505, there are a few points I've been bearing in mind:
  • The availability of ebooks (commerical ones that is, free ones seem widely available in both cirumstances) in their relevant formats - Sony's device is obviously partnered with the Waterstones site here, which is quite frankly rubbish (very dificult to navigate, quite a limited selection etc.). I get the impression that it can use other sites to a certain extent, but that this is also limited. i.e. it couldn't use all the books off fictionwise or instance, but it could use some (I'm not entirely sure about this). Where as the cybook seems to have a larger selection of commerical books available for use in this sense (there are many books which seem to be in mobipocket format which I'd like to read - which are not availabe in any other format, and this is not true of any books for the son reader). I recognise that this point might sound jumbled, but that's a reflection of my mind . If anyone could make this a bit simpler for me that would be great.
  • Everyone seems to say that the Sony reader is more stylish. I have seen one, and am not overwhelmed by its looks. I have not seen a cybook, but from pictures I quite like the look. I am just wondering if anyone has any comments on this? Also on a similar topic, there is one button on the cybook, is this a relatively study button, and does it make the device harder to navigate than the sony one? (bearing in mind I quite like the idea of bookmarking).
  • Which one formats PDFs better?
  • Is there any difference in screen quality/display? Or are they pretty much the same.
  • I quite like the idea of RSS feeds. Am I right in thinking the Sony device does not support this? And is there a way around this? Also I seem to think I read something about a piece of software called Calibre, being able to read more of say a news article than the standard RSS feed can, is this true?

If there are any other things worth mentioning as well then I would be incredibly grateful if you let me know.

Sorry for bothering you with such a long post
