Although it is unintuitive, a sample will have DRM if the book itself does.

Yes, the apps are updated with Cloud Collections and the K4 is not.

Kindle Cloud Reader in the browser is a crapshoot.
Kindle for Mac -- I don't think the desktop apps were updated with Cloud Collections (I could be wrong.)
