Newcomer problem with OPDS

IPAD 2
IOS 8.0.2
Calibre 2.4.0
Macbook Pro
OS X 10.9.5

I am a recent and happy convert to Marvin fleeing a bad relationship with iBooks. Last week, following the tutorial instructions at Marvin, I set up the OPDS connection between my MacBook Pro and Marvin. Everything worked incredibly well for a week but suddenly there's no connection at all. The wifi is the same network on both Mac and iPad. The only change I've made is to upgrade to Calibre 2.4.0 from 2.0.0 in case my problem was fixed with the upgrade, however, it didn't change anything. I've looked at the server logs and the error log is full of... Something. Should I post the error log or is there something obvious I'm forgetting or missing?
