There are a number of cartoons that appear to be comedies on the surface. However, if you dig a bit you can see the horror underneath the humor.

An example is "Fraidy Cat" which is about a cat who has already lived eight lives, is now on his last life, and lives in a world where everything is out to get him. Worse, every time he says a number from one to eight, the ghost of that previous life comes back to "help" Fraidy which usually results in disaster for the poor cat. Even worse, saying the number nine (or a word that sounds like "nine") cause a cloud of death and destruction to appear and hunt down Fraidy with one purpose: to destroy him. His only hope is to run for his life until the cloud disappears.
