Will the calendar ever be revised to make it much more consistent? At present, with our 12-month calendar each month has an inconsistent number of days which have been set in place via tradition.

There have been proposals to make the calendar more consistent, including:
  • A 13-month calendar with 28 days in each month and the first day of the month being a separate day called New Years Day (to make it 365 days) and the leap day being placed at the end of the year when needed.
  • A 12-month calendar with the odd months having 30 days, even months having 31 days with the exception of the last month. The last month would have 31 days during leap years.
The advantage of the 13-month calendar is that each month is consistent, with the same number of each weekday (Mondays, Tuesday, and so on). This makes it easier to consistently compare months, something that is more difficult with our current calendar since the total number of each weekday in each month varies.
