For main purpose - finger navigation on an ebook-reader it is already really acceptable.

The very first batch of T68 (mainly sold as Lynx branded) has come with software, which had obviously often problems with TS calibration in the first mass production version. This could be partially solved by software updates. I am sure, the accuracy is still not as perfect as e.g. on Samsung devices with capacitive touch, but really acceptable now. Onyx currently uses same technique for complete T68 line (regardless who is distributor) , so it is always identical hardware and drivers. However I am sure, that there are some perfectionist like me, who is still not satisfied with the result. After my massive pressure on Onyx, they promised me to revise the touch screen hardware and try to rework the technique for the next batch. I don't know actually, what exactly they are going to do and if they will succeed. I could be still not 100% satisfied though. I just hope it will work as expected.
Unfortunately Onyx don't really consider this issue as important, because it works quite acceptable for most of their customers.. If we would not have permanently bothered them with our complains, they would be probably still ignore it.
It is certainly a malfunction or defect. It was not acceptable on my T68 before or after the update. I had thought maybe it wasn't possible to have perfect accuracy on an eink device until I bought my Boyue T62 which is the same as the Icarus Illumina E653. The touch accuracy is perfect - I can type as quickly on it as on my Nexus 7.
