Once I buy a Kindle book I send it to K4PC to be move to Calibre then I delete it from K4PC's Kindle content folder. I keep a mirror of my Amazon Library on Calibre which is accessible by cloud from any device using Dropbox app.

You will need them if you are accused of running afoul of Amazon's terms of service and have your account closed. No, it doesn't seem to happen frequently but I'd rather be prepared. I keep all my books from all vendors on my pc and disinfected. Also, if Amazon no longer has a license to sell a particular book will it still be available for you to download?
