Yes, I've even swapped the straps for a wider one if needed. My purse used to get very heavy from all the coins too and what I do now for the rare times I pay cash, I stuff the coins in my jeans pocket. When I get home they get tossed in an old dish on my dresser that was my grandmother's that she used for coins. When I get enough, I exchange them at one of the coin machines that are now everywhere and just get a card to use at the grocery store. My wallet filled with coins was always the heaviest thing in my purse, now I don't even carry a wallet, the really small purses have slots for cards and zippered area for cash.
