Agreed. A warranty replacement will generally replace an item with one of a similar age, not with a new one. If my car went in to the dealer for a warranty repair, I would not expect them to give me a new car.

There's absolutely no reason to think that a refurbished device will be less reliable than a new one. I've bought a couple of refurbished Kindles with no problems at all. Nor have I heard of other people having problems with them.
