Except that many people still retain the ability to download from Amazon directly (no reader software necessary). So yes... there's a difference, Jon. Quite a big one in fact. B&N has taken away something from Nook device owners that Kindle device owners still have--the ability to download their books without the need for a special "download manager." It's OK to not care about that difference, but it's silly and disingenous to pretend one doesn't exist (simply because it doesn't affect
you).
