Ok--if you go to Amazon's Kindle page and click on the "free reading apps" link, there is a box to put in your email address, but there is also a link that says "Download from Windows Store" This link doesn't actually take you to the Windows store--it actually is a link to download the setup file for Kindle for PC (not the Windows8 app)
