			I would contact Kobo again and ask for a replacement. It's unacceptable to get a poor replacement. You paid for a wirking unit and working you should get. 
 
My mother's Sony Reader PRS-600 had one of the faulty screens made by LG that did not work in sunlight. Sony sent a replacement and the screen was of lesser contrast.
