My impression is that the touchscreen accuracy is a hardware defect. It is possible that it can be partially mitigated in software (by firmware upgrades), but it will never go away.
Being a hardware defect, it means that some people are lucky enough not to have it, but from what I read in the forum, most do.

My device has very poor screen accuracy with either of the firmware versions (Artatech or Booxtor). I have also tried all upgrades.
Also, I think the screen accuracy depends on the status of the device (for instance I think when wifi is on, it's worse). In my mind this goes to the bad quality of the battery: like when a lot of parts of the device start drawing power at the same time then the touch screen accuracy suffers.
