Well that is nice of them!
I usually order a new reader with SO because it is less expensive and if I decide to keep it I then I pay to turn off the SO. When they first offered SO way back when, we actually got quite a few good special offers. I remember that I kept a list of the special offers I purchased, things I would have purchased anyway but got discounts on through the SO program, and within six months I saved as much money as the Kindle with SO had cost me. So basically the Kindle had paid for itself with SO. But then the offers got fewer and crappy, stuff I didn't really want. The first half year was okay, but then it seemed like a bait and switch. The SO is no longer worth having, and thus it is just an annoying advertisement to me. Some might still like it though. But for me i is worth paying to have it turned OFF.
