Is it possible he's seeing the usual bug where trying to remove the bookmark from the tab in the corner takes him back to the homescreen, but he's got a few badly formatted epubs so it takes awhile for them to close and get back to the homescreen? Or a LOT of books on the reader that might cause a slowdown, or it's a much larger ebook again that would cause a slowdown which would seem like a short freeze? Or even a corrupt database?
