This is quite sneaky. I've been watching the J.D. Robb - Concealed in Death - since it was published earlier this year, and it has been US 14.99 all along. So yes, to see it now at US 7.99 does make it look as if it has been significantly discounted.

What they don't say is that when the next book in a series is published, the previous one will go down to the same price as the rest - mostly, in this case, US 7.99, and the new one will be selling for the higher US 14.99 price. In other words, now that Festive in Death is the 'current' book in the series, that is US 14.99 and the earlier one has been reduced.

I haven't looked to see if the same applies to the rest of the '50% reduction' books.
