Now the Kobo Aura H2O is just the opposite, and is, strictly speaking for even more dedicated readers, because is is slightly bigger, with much improved screen real estate (because dedicated readers wont mind, it's their main item) and more robust (water resistant, can be taken to more places without worrying). This is not to describe the "dedicated reader" but to point out what kinds of features people who use their devices heavily might find more attractive.
No offense, but you consider the Amazon feature "gimmicks" and the Kobo features the things that real readers want. Who are you to make that call? Amazon puts in the features that they think will sell and Kobo does the same thing. Neither one is putting in gimmicks. They are features that not everyone wants, but you sound foolish when you make the jump from "you don't want one" to "nobody wants it".

I've been using a kobo aura hd for a year and didn't even consider going to the H20 because its additions were unattractive to me. When the Voyage came out, I instantly gave the Kobo to my father and pre-ordered one because its features were just what I had been waiting for.

A year from now we can discuss if Amazon or Kobo was right. Or perhaps they both are.
