These aren't friends--just authors. One of them is a fairly big name author who did a short novella on her own. I found her response quite rude when she said she would not be uploading to kobo and there were several requests for epub or other retailers. I had only read one of her books. It will be the last.

When uploading we don't choose the "pub" -- we upload a file in epub and it is "converted" to whatever Kobo wants. That said, I have written and requested that my files be epub 2 and not kepub and expressed my dismay that kepub exists. So far as I can tell all my books are epub2.

I doubt it will do any good, but I did express my opinion on the kepub stuff. I didn't get an answer about whether/when on epub3 or kepub as far as policy or choices.
