Anyway, my Aura HD's gone off to be replaced. Big thanks to Kobo for being willing to do that, when the thing is just a few days short of being out of warranty.

So it's back to my trusty Touch, which has held up well and is now also running 3.8.0. But oh how I miss the built-in light !!

One thing I did notice, and welcome: the Touch, even on 3.8.0, still has the page slider across the bottom of the screen in the Library, something I really miss on my Aura. Why was this ever removed? Was it judged to take up too much screen space?

I personally feel its functionality far outweighs the loss of room on the display. Moving through pages in the Library without it is far too haphazard. There's no clear space to tap to turn the page, and for me the Aura misreads a swipe far too frequently and, annoyingly, opens a book instead. The slider at the bottom of the page avoided that, and was a far simpler way of jumping a few pages ahead, into the bargain. I'd really like to see it brought back.

For that matter, there's a similar problem with ToCs, depending on how they're formatted. If the links are long strings, it's often harder than it should be to turn the page without activating a link. I wonder if it's possible to have invokable designated tap zones, a little square of space that can be called up on either side of the display where a tap will turn the page reliably regardless of what other coding is on the page?

But I'd still like the slider back in the Library !
