Scotty: Isn'nt obvious Captain?
Kirk: Humor me Mr Scott.
Scotty: So the ship can'not fall into enemy hands!

Kirk: Scotty, have you been hitting the Scotch again?
Scotty: Nay but Im' serious captain!
Kirk: Explain?
Scotty: Well Starfleet was worried that a ship could lose from loss of life support or'a something before it was rendered totally inoperable. So they came up with an ingenious solution: self demolishing star ships!
McCoy: That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard!
Kirk: Quiet bones.
Kirk: But Mr Scott, what if we run into a dangerous nebula?
Scotty: You cann'ot be serious Captain. Everybody knows nebulae aren'nt that dense!
Kirk: ...
Kirk: Okay, but what if we hit the great barrier at the edge of the galaxy?
Scotty: Why would there be a barrier at the edge of the galaxy?
Kirk: How about the one at the center ot the galaxy?
Scotty: That does'nt make any more sense than the one at the edge of the galaxy. And besides, traveling to the center of our galaxy would take decades at warp anyway. You cannat violate the continuity of the series captain!
