My procedure with only 2200 books is to copy them over using Calibre, disconnect from the computer and wait for the processing screen to appear. Once it appears, I connect my ereader to an external charger and leave it overnight. In the morning, it's all ready to go. Beats sitting there watching the screen for hours.
