@JSWolf I noticed your disquiet in the Discounts thread re the title change (JS Wolf Discounts thread post no. #10094)

Yeah, thanks for spoiling a good thread title with now a poor thread title. I don't see what was wrong with leaving well enough alone.
as well as your curiosity in this thread as to why some of the Discounts thread participants wanted to see a change of title.

From my perspective it's about clarity. Is discussion about how to use the discount codes and how to use the Kobo store front included in the intention of the thread nomenclature? And my commonsense says that it's the thread title that should (help) determine that.

The previous thread title 'kobobooks.com Discount Codes' didn't seem to provide for discussion as to how to use the codes, how to use the Kobo storefront, how to use many of the features available when buying ebooks from Kobo. There seemed to be a gap between posting the code and then using the code, or using the code in the optimal way for your country and payment circumstances.

Some posters who read the title as meaning that only codes should be posted to the exclusion of chatter around how to use the codes were quite right to post that the thread was going off topic.

The intention of this poll and thread is as I posted in the first post:

I'd like to propose a re-titling of the Kobobooks.com Discount Codes thread to instead be 'Kobobooks.com Discount Codes and pertinent discussion'.

My reasoning is that buying ebooks from the Kobo website can be a somewhat daunting and tricky business (or adventure!), and members not infrequently ask for help when using the codes.

Examples of said trickiness include:

two different websites/checkouts, old and new, depending on your country of origin
Cart appears on some countries sites and not others
PayPal is acceptable on some countries sites and not others
Gift Vouchers available for some countries and not others
entering discount codes differs according to your country and whether you are on the old or new website
format of the ebook is a bit of a mystery unless you take particular steps to clarify the format you're buying
kepub - a Kobo specific format that differs in treatment from the usual epub
the (usually) monthly Contest only applies to some countries, and now the codes only work in those same countries
the Japanese Rakutan site now differs in lots of ways from the rest of the Kobo sites
assistance with the ability to travel
assistance with searching and trying to find books (not as easy as it should be by far!)

Any more?

Anyway, I consider that these are sufficient reasons to justify 'pertinent discussion' be included as part of the thread title.

What do you reckon?
It seems from the results that the bulk of Discounts thread users who voted were of the opinion that the intention for the thread should include discussion as to how to use the codes under various conditions and that posting about this was relevant.

I appreciate that you may not agree with my thinking.
