you're probably right. I began the thread because of a perceived risk with dropbox though, so if there's a sticky saying "trust that" it may need to be modified.
I initially saw dropbox as a way of always having access to calibre library even if my main PC died , because I go from Calibre to dropbox one way only via free file sync ( daily) & then have dropbox also syncing to a 2nd PC. I sync also to a secondary local internal drive but if the PC died I'd have to remove that & install it somewhere else in order to read it.

& all that is still good, the ( still worrying) issue is what happens to cloud copies if I ever were to restore the main PC from an old system image ( in which dropbox is set to run at startup).
