Most advertising food shots don't use real food. You've probably seen the Kellog's Corn Flakes photo with the bright red strawberries floating in a bowl of thick, creamy milk, right? Well... strawberries don't float. And they get that red and shiny from a coat of nail polish. That thick, creamy 'milk' is a layer of "Elmer's White Glue" on top of some modeling clay, with a few corn flakes sprinkled on top, and the strawberries pressed into the clay at just the right angles to make a nice appetizing breakfast! Not the kind of photography I want to do, thanks!
