Yes, the unnecessary, self-inflicted angst with very little character growth is tiresome. I don't mind if a character starts out that way, but if they don't grow up/mature during the story I fail to see the point.

And I also find it difficult to believe some characters can be as naive or sheltered in this day and age unless we're given their backstory to explain why they've never been on the internet or read a book about some stuff.

But mostly I just can't buy into the HEA at the end of too many NA novels.
