Yes and no regarding sideloading content to uSD. You can certainly put ebooks and other media on a card, but the problem is that the B&N reading apps will not work with any ebooks or magazines on the card. The notable exception is if you move an epub (I only tested magazines) to the card using some other means (e.g. the Samsung My Files app). THEN the B&N reader seems to be able to open it, but it's not a realistic solution. Other reading apps seem to want content on internal storage as well, so it'll depend on your exact mix.

So... if you want to be able to keep a large collection of ebooks on the device and find yourself needing to store them on uSD, you'll probably end up using a 3rd party reader -- possibly one that can work directly with B&N DRM-encumbered ebooks such as Mantano Reader. At that point, you're not using the B&N software, so really haven't gained anything buy buying the device from B&N UNLESS you either need/want in-store support, or want to use features such as Read In Store. Buying a non-B&N SGT4 7.0 from BestBuy at least qualifies you for the somewhat better Samsung Perks bundle, which includes a $10 GoPS credit, which is likely more useful than B&N's bundle.
