Those were were last three steps. Well, that and another restart. I tried this again:

* Uninstall_linkss (implicit restart)
* rm -fr /Volumes/Kindle/linkss (no restart)
* Install linkss (implicit restart)

Opened a book I hadn't opened before, waited for sleep mode. Result: Standard Screensaver cover. Made sure to touch empty "cover" file.

Firmware 5.4.4.2, Amazon pushed in on me when I turned on WLAN while not quite awake. :-/


The jailbreak's pretty old. Mid-January 2013, according to posts on this side and the oldest date on my hacks/folder, where I also saved

400552 17 Jan 2013 kpw_jb.zip

which I used then to JB my then brand-new Paperwhite V1 Amazon.de adfree.
