I tried the following via Skript to make sure of the order and steps and reproducibility. After each step, which is basically just copying the packed to /Volumes/Kindle and ejected the device, I removed the Kindle from USB (at the Kindle's side), used the Kindle menu to update software. After each update, the Kindle reported update okay.
Yet no screensavers.
I then deleted the linkss folder, and repeated step four and did a touch /Volumes/Kindle/linkss/cover. And yes, /Volumes/Kindle/linkss and its contents had been created.
Still no covers.
I assume that I couldn't have installed if my jailbreak had been unbroken by the latest firmware upgrade?
$ /Volumes/Kindle/hacks/packages/setup.sh
Step 1
1/Update_python_0.10.N_uninstall.bin -> /Volumes/Kindle/Update_python_0.10.N_uninstall.bin
"disk3" unmounted.
"disk3" ejected.
$ /Volumes/Kindle/hacks/packages/setup.sh
Step 2
2/Update_linkss_0.17.N_uninstall.bin -> /Volumes/Kindle/Update_linkss_0.17.N_uninstall.bin
"disk3" unmounted.
"disk3" ejected.
$ /Volumes/Kindle/hacks/packages/setup.sh
Step 3
3/Update_python_0.10.N_install_touch_pw.bin -> /Volumes/Kindle/Update_python_0.10.N_install_touch_pw.bin
"disk3" unmounted.
"disk3" ejected.
$ /Volumes/Kindle/hacks/packages/setup.sh
Step 4
4/Update_linkss_0.17.N_install_touch_pw.bin -> /Volumes/Kindle/Update_linkss_0.17.N_install_touch_pw.bin
"disk3" unmounted.
"disk3" ejected.
