Yes it is clear that this problem is unique to my setup. No one else has this problem.
I have stopped all possible services and programs, but not tried calibre in safe mode.
For now I'm going back to 1.48 which works perfectly on my computer.

Where are you copying from?

And do give Safe Boot a try, just in case its some 3rd party s/w lurking under the covers as a driver. You can initiate a Safe Boot via the msconfig utility.

Could be that not many users copy/paste into metadata edit from external sources, maybe some users are holding off installing 2.x until it settles down, and the XP users and some OS/X can't upgrade to 2.x.

Another thing you could try, is to install the portable version of 2.2, and point it at the same library. Why would you do that? You would be using a pristine configuration folder.

I hate unresolved problems
