I look at it differently. Some stories are short, some are long. It doesn't matter if it's 200 page book or a 1000 page book. What matters is that you have a good story and an effort on the writers part not to cut it down or fluff it up. But honestly, there is so much more of the fluffing going on in the genre I read (fantasy) than cutting things down.
